Percentage of perfume ingredients: EDP (in short) is perfume water. It is more concentrated than Eau de toilette. EDP has a higher percentage of fragrance oils and less alcohol. The concentration of fragrance oils is around 15 to 20%.

Longevity: When it comes to longevity, EDPs are highly long-lasting because of the proportion of mixology. The fragrance aura can last for more than 5 hours (even 8 hours or more).

Seasons & occasions: Eau de parfums are suitable for all seasons and occasions, depending on the fragrance family. For instance, spicy, woody, or oriental fragrances can be worn in fall and winter. Floral, fruity, and other perfumes are suitable for spring or summer.

Furthermore, EDPs are well-suited for special occasions such as corporate events, festival gatherings, date nights, etc.

Eau de Toilette

EDTs are moderate and lighter than EDPs. I prefer EDTs for office and daily events. And EDTs are ideal for those who get headaches due to strong perfumes.

Percentage of ingredients: Eau De Toilette (EDT) is another form of fragrance and is a lighter version of Eau de parfum; as per the fragrance principles, EDT has 5 to 15% of fragrance materials and more percentage of alcohol.

Longevity: EDTs are ideal for everyone who likes moderate fragrances. Most last 4 to 6 hours.

Seasons & occasions: Like EDPs, EDTs can be worn in any season and occasion, depending on the fragrance families. However, EDTs are more suited for everyday use, casual events, etc. They are good for regular use because they can make you smell amazing without becoming overpowering.

What is an Extrait de Parfum or a Parfum?

Parfums are exquisitely potent fragrances known for their heavenly and sensual scents. Just a few sprays of these luxurious perfumes have the power to make you outstanding in any crowd.

Concentration: Extrait de parfums are the most concentrated form of fragrance, even stronger than eau de parfum. The concentration of perfume ingredients is typically around 20-30%. Therefore, most niche fragrances are made with these concentrations and are expensive.

Longevity: Extrait de parfums or parfums can last for over 24 hours. This can be the reason why some clothes smell amazing even after one day of wearing them.

Seasons & occasions: Extrait de parfums or parfums are meant for special occasions. Because of rich notes, noticeable longevity, and strong sillage, such fragrances provide luxurious experiences. Above all, seasons depend on the fragrance family.

What is Eau de Cologne?

Colognes are widely used for casual use because they are moderate and do not overpower. If you go for a movie event, coffee date, or other casual events, you can wear eau de colognes.

Concentration: Eau de colognes are lighter than eau de toilettes and are often worn to get instant freshness. The scent contains 3-5% fragrance material, and the rest is alcohol.

Longevity: Colognes can last for 2 to 4 hours and are highly affordable. They generally have moderate projection and sillage.

Seasons & occasions: Like EDTs, colognes can be used in all seasons. The moderate projection of these scents makes them ideal for daytime or casual events.

What About Perfume Oils?

I would rather discuss it separately than comparing with others because perfume oils are entirely concentrated. Therefore, a few drops of fragrance oils are enough to make you smell divine.

Concentration: Perfume oils are entirely concentrated and are made without alcohol. Such fragrance oils do not include additives. These oils are made with natural ingredients such as spices, wood, oud, flowers, etc.

Longevity: Perfume oils have strong sillage and can last for up to 10 hours and more.

Seasons & occasions: The subtle fragrance oils can work in all seasons, depending on the accords. I suggest wearing these oils for all occasions.

Are Body Mists Good to Apply?

Body mists are light and refreshing. Unlike other fragrances, mist (also known as eau fraiche) has the lightest scent in concentration. They are made to give you an instant freshness that can uplift your mood. You can always carry a bottle in your bag.

Concentration: Body mists, called eau fraiche, are refreshing and light. I always call body mists energy bombs because of the instant freshness of flavors these scents reveal. They contain a slight percentage of fragrance ingredients (around 1-3%)

Longevity: The freshness can last a few hours and has moderate projection.

Seasons & occasions: Body mists are hydrating and suitable for all seasons. You can wear eau fraiche on any occasion. However, apply it after a shower or in the morning to retain its freshness. You can also keep a mist in your bags.
